Worldwide Artist Interview: SRG

FEATURE BLOG: Worldwide Artist

Real name: Scott Robert Greenwood
Nick / Artist name: SRG

Which country are you based in?
United Kingdom

When did you start and what did you start?
I’ve always done art throughout my whole life (age 23). I started off by drawing Spider-Man out of comics and then I continued and studied Fine Art at school & college which honestly I don’t think helps much apart from making you spend time on art so it’s practicing the skill. A few years afterwards I was doing pet portraits for people with black biros. But when things really started to get going for me was when I moved on from the pen drawings to large canvas acrylic paintings. The reaction & requests increased dramatically!

Where does your inspiration come from?
Honestly with each piece that’s requested I tend to look at the picture they want & see it finished in my style. I imagine it looking sick & the customer & social media reaction which gets my psyched! The other thing that inspires me in the whole is my end goal. To really become one of the top people in my field of work. This constantly keeps me driven - I paint 8-10 every day 7 days a week 👊🏼
What is your best achievement?
So far my best achievement id say is doing paintings for celebrity status people. One that stands out for me is doing a painting for the owner of the giant brand PrettyLittleThing who are the largest e-commerce brand in the UK. And the owner saying he wishes to meet me about my work.  That was amazing!

Which is your personal favourite?
My personal favourite so far is a roaring lion that I painted for a customer. 1.5x1metre in black, grey, whites

Who inspires you?
The artist that I’ve always been inspired by, and still look up to is Davo Howarth. The guy is an amazing artist, local to myself & is always improving. Not only because his work is incredible but also because I think by what he’s done... it shows to me that it’s possible to achieve!

Tips for budding artists?
In my opinion I’d say try a couple different things but staying with your own style and what comes natural to you & post it all on social media. Whichever thing you enjoyed doing the most and that gets good interaction from the audience RUN WITH IT. Don’t stop, work on it everyday, create that community & grow it! Obviously it’s not about the likes, the follows etc etc... but as an artist it’s about getting recognised, people seeing your work & what you can do. It’s a sense of fulfilment to do what you love & people also loving it aswell 🙏🏻 hope you do it & achieve what you want!
